To scoop the foam or to not scoop the foam when SLAMMING?

I last did the Ahhsome purge and refill at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov and was hoping the water would last a bit longer. I do follow the chlorine guide and all the numbers are good. I've been TFP follower since I got a pool years ago and have used it for my spa as well. The foam and gunk...

To scoop the foam or to not scoop the foam when SLAMMING?

Yes. Lately it's been brand name Clorox bleach. Regular stuff, not the "no splash" or scented or anything.

To scoop the foam or to not scoop the foam when SLAMMING?

Thank you for your response. I added ~24oz of 7.5% bleach and ~3oz of potassium peroxymonosulfate (MPS). See the attached pic for the foam and the gunk that it leaves on the wall. The gunk comes off easily with a paper towel, as long as it doesn't have time to dry.

To scoop the foam or to not scoop the foam when SLAMMING?

When doing my weekly SLAM of the tub (chlorine to ~15ppm and a couple ounces of the oxidizing sanitizer), a lot of foam is generated. Should I be scooping that foam out or are there still "active" chemicals in there that have more work to do and I should leave it alone and let the filter do its...

General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecide?

Re: General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecid No, haven't added any bleach for days, since the initial gallon I dumped in after removing the winter cover. I've just been trying to get the pH and CYA up to levels appropriate for a slam. I live in NH and...

General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecide?

Re: General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecid So I measured tonight after the last chem addition last night and got: pH: 7.0 FC: 7.5 CC: 0.0 TA: 80 CYA: 25 Only a 0.2 pH increase after adding 2lbs of BS and 4lbs of Borax? Is it still the CYA keeping it...

General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecide?

Re: General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecid The link says 50-90+. Are there any issues with high TA? I didn't have enough borax to do the entire 2nd chemical addition in borax so I used some baking soda to help with the pH, knowing that it would...

General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecide?

Re: General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecid Thanks for the help! Here's the progress so far: Original #'s pH: 6.8 FC: 7.5 CC: 0.5 TA: 55 CYA: <20 So I added: Bleach: 0 gals Baking Soda: 3lbs Borax: 2lbs CYA: 2lbs And got the following measurements...

General order of operations, CYA <20, my initial measurements and why no algaecide? First, thank you for the great work you guys do! :D I'm a reformed chemist and always knew the ingredients in the pool store chemicals were common household chemicals that I could get for a lot cheaper. I just...

Partially buried pool wall and perimeter landscaping ideas?

So you're talking about something like this: I was hoping for something with plants to make it look a little nicer. But that would require dirt against the wall. I appreciate your comments. thank you.

Partially buried pool wall and perimeter landscaping ideas?

I had thought about that but wouldn't there still be some moisture trapped against the wall? That's what led me to think about applying some sort of waterproof coating to the wall. Good call with the weed barrier! I would have probably forgotten about that.

Partially buried pool wall and perimeter landscaping ideas?

I had my above ground pool replaced last year because the previous pool wall had corroded away in a number of spots, including near the base. In some spots, the pool wall was buried up to six inches deep with dirt and rocks against it. The corrosion that occurred at the base was where the wall...
