General TA, pH and FC question

I'll be keeping an eye on FC loss. I wanted the CYA down to get the shock level I needed for the YM...but may get it back to 40-50 if FC loss is too high. I'll keep adjusting until TA gets down to 50-60. Thanks!!

General TA, pH and FC question

First thanks to everyone the replied to my bromide thread..... https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/new-here-and-just-starting-on-the-path-to-fix-my-bromine-mistake.236572/ After exchanging about 60% of the water over time and running with the higher chlorine demand I think I must be back...

    ph vs FC levels

Wisdom is that ph readings are not reliable at high FC levels. Is there a particular FC level where this starts or does ph error increase in some fashion as FC increases?? Thanks, /d

New here and just starting on the path to fix my bromine mistake

So last post in this thread as an update: I probably exchanged about 50% of the water over a couple of weeks. I also spiked the chlorine (or bromine) every evening to the 7-10 range. over a couple of weeks. It would measure at the same level early morning but all would be gone by noon...

New here and just starting on the path to fix my bromine mistake

Usually we get 3-5 inches from an event like Elsa. Takes a pretty good storm to generate more than 5 inches. We had a strange weather event over a weekend a number of years back where I got 27 inches from a Fri morning till Sunday night. Right now I am replacing water about 4 inches a day...

    TF-100 calcium hardness testing

Repeated and hit 14 drops or 350 for CH. Thank you all very much. Also tested my tap water which is used to fill, it has a pph over 8 and a CH of 100.

    TF-100 calcium hardness testing

Have not tried testing my tap water...will do that and report. The R-0011L turns the sample a reddish purple. Adding the R-0012 never changes the color as far as I can tell even after 15+ drops. My local Leslie's pool store uses a Lamotte digital spin lab tester. No idea how accurate that...

Thanks Donaldson....my pool is abnormally large and exchanging water can only happen at a low rate. If my posting annoys you I apologize. But research is something I do a lot. And one of the first things I noticed was that bromide is an issue in drinking water. And when something is an...

    TF-100 calcium hardness testing

I can't seem to get any change in color when adding the R-0012. Using 10mL of water with 10 drops of the R-0010 and then 3 drops of the R-0011L while stirring with the speedstir. It never changes to blue. Neither does the 100ppm water sample included with the kit. Baffled??

I would really like to hear the opinions of the chemically inclined here on whether a Br- selective resin as identified in the paper below could be used in a specially built filter as a potential bromide removal mechanism??? https://tigerprints.clemson.edu/all_theses/3217/

I would really be interested in any chem guys taking a look at the feasibility of using a Br- specific resin in a specially constructed filter for removing bromide from pool water in a way as described in this paper: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/am/pii/S0045653519318077

Silver leaching would be a problem. Moving on to Activated Carbon with an applied voltage.
