Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

The app for Mac or PC that you can download from pentair has a bunch more settings, like controlling schedules and renaming features, setting custom pump speeds, etc. The interface is confusing but it is easier than using the menu's on the easy touch outside.

You can definitely run the filter at whatever pump speed you want by setting up a Feature which is just a pump speed. The SWG only runs in Pool or Spa mode though.

Well, since you are on a roll learning all about your pool, how about some more? :)
Post a pic of your equipment pad and we can point you in the right direction.

Here are some pictures of the valves

I will see if I can find that and get it on our laptop.

Just out of curiosity what RPMs do you run in various settings?

Hi Po,
TA is not so critical as other parameters. The link below, tells you how to lower it quickly using Muriatic Acid. Your waterfall will provide the aeration.
It probably will take a few gallons of MA to lower it all the way to 70 and take quite a while to do.

OR,

you can just let the TA come down on its own. It will do that when you add MA to control the PH. With TA at 210, your pH will rise fairly quickly anyhow, so you'll need to test it every day and keep it in the recommended range. This method will be slower than attacking it with MA and aeration, but will eventually get you there.

Ok. Pool school is back in session:

Tested water today:

FC 5.5
PH 7.4
TA 210
CH 250-275

So - what to do to lower TA? Add muratic acid?

We just added calcium increaser yesterday. We added 23ish lbs.

I'd like to try the MA and get everything in check as quickly as possible as I have other things I'd like to learn and regulate ;-). So, add a gallon of MA and turn the water fall on? And wait a while before testing again?

NO NO!
Po dont add a gallon of MA unless Pool Math says to! Only add enough to get your PH down to 7.0 - 7.2.. then aerate to get the Ph back up to 7.6, then repeat.

Yes, another TFPC success story! Very nice.

+1 on keeping an eye on the skimmer socks. They can clog fast. Not sure how your suction plumbing is plumbed, but if you can set a valve between skimmers and main drain so that it pulls from both then put it in the middle or 60skimmer/40drain so that if the socks clog the pump can still get water from the drain.

The two valves in the middle, closest to the ground should be the valves that control suction from main drain and skimmers. Right now the handles are pointing down, turning those valves should change the flow between skimmers and drain.

So baby steps. Reduce the PH, then aerate, ph is back up, reduce again and repeat

When is the best time to check FC each day to determine if the SWG is set appropriately?

Dont worry Po, we can fix it. I will reply back to you in PM Po, so as not to get this sidetracked and too many folks chiming in and confusing things.

Up by pool shcool button are Notifications... thats where you check your PMs at. (I sent one already).
It will take me a few minutes to do some figuring, but will send message soon.

I did [emoji17]. I guess I assumed that since you said it would take a few gallons, that a gallon would be a good place to start. Lost my POP, I guess.

LOL.

She's fine, since last Ph post of 7.4 (thats what I thought it was), its had risen to 8. And with a TA of 210, the gallon of MA wasnt as significant as I first thought.

We all have to learn so it's all good. I know Ive made more than my share of oopsies.
:)

Dave in for the save! Lisa just use this as a learning experience. Live and learn.

HUGS!

Kim
