Just ran a full set of testing. I test FC and pH every week but need to get better at testing everything else more often. I believe you are able to see my results linked to my profile

  • My CYA looks low at 50. I adjusted to 80 last July/August. Is 30 ppm loss normal?
  • Salt ppm is high at 4000 (used my test kit). My salt cell is reading 3600ppm. Is this something I need to immediately address or I can slowly get it down by draining some of the pool as needed when we get heavy rains?
  • Calcium hardness is 300ppm. Should I bump this up to ideal range of at least 350 ppm?
  • For testing the alkalinity, it turned slightly red for about 15 to 20 seconds then turned back to a grayish green. Next drop put it at fully red. Which is considered the end of the test?
  • For salt test, the drop before it went fully salmon color, it turned salmon red quickly then went to yellow. Which is considered the end of the test?
  • I believe FC and pH are good and I have no CC and clear water.

Your manufacturer says to go low on page 11 of the handbook. If you have waterline tiles with grout then thats a reason to follow plaster CH levels

Thanks for the information. How about having a gas heater? From what I’ve read on here, CH needs to be higher to preserve any damage to it.
