I wanted to share my experience with members on my pool cleaning robots. Yes, that's plural. I have two robots.

The first is a Beatbot Aquasense. AFAIK it's their original model. Not the "Pro" or Ultra" etc. I'm pretty stodgy in purchasing technology. I like the tried and true appliances that have all the bugs worked out, as opposed to testing the latest and greatest of unknown performance. Price was about $1K total on February 2025.

The second is the Bettabot SE solar powered skimmer. About $375 in March 2025.

My pool is a 3.5' - 8' deep 20x40 rectangle with fiberglass steps. Very simple pool. So my review applies to my pool. Your mileage may vary. 🙂

Bottom line? I'm super pleased with both. Highly recommend for folks with a pool like mine.

I live on a lake in Georgia in the middle of a forest. So we get tons of leaves, pollen and various and sundry other debris, along with bugs and other critters. Every windy or rainy day brings the contents of the forest into our pool. Mowing the lawn creates a storm of particles that find their way into the pool as well.

The biggest bang for the buck is the Bettabot solar powered skimmer. 6 hours of sunlight yields 30 hours of runtime. The only issue I have had is when my Variable Speed Pump is running at high speed, the returns will push it off course or it gets sucked it into the pool skimmer. A non-issue, easily resolved. The Bettabot beats my pool skimmers alone by 1000%. It also keeps most debris out of the skimmers. I use skimmer basket socks as well, so my pool skimmers capture lots of dust and pollen etc.

The Beatbot Aquasense takes care of the floor, walls, steps and waterline. It does a great job, and I'm extremely pleased with it's performance. It also helps disperse granular pool chemicals and salt etc., when needed.

Now... the big question is do these robots completely eliminate any need to perform any manual maintenance like brushing or using your skimmer net? Of course not. But in my experience, it has cut my manual maintenance time by at least 90%.

So, there it is. I hope my fellow TFP members found this review helpful!

Questions?

How often do you need to empty the basket? I also have lots of trees, and this could be hugely helpful. Also, can you just let it tool around on its own, or do you need to use the remote control?

The Bettabot Skimmer gets emptied as needed. Early spring here in Georgia brings lots of tree debris like buds that get knocked off during rain, windy weather etc. I emptied it daily for a consecutive week or two. After that, not as often, but I check it daily. The fall season will be similar, and probably worse than spring when the leaves fall.

I just let it tool around on its own 24/7. It came with a remote, but I've not used it yet.

The Beatbot Aquasense should be emptied and cleaned after every use. It's easy. I run it at least 3 times per week. When its finished cleaning, it parks itself on the pool wall for easy retrieval, as long as you catch it within about 10 minutes of the time it parks itself. If not, it drops to the bottom but is easily retrieved with the hook shipped with the unit.
