Test after opening salt pool

Good morning, thanks to this forum I have been able last year to solve several issues and do my own maintenance with the pro kit.
Next week i’ll open the pool (a pool guy is doing that). He’ll of course do all start ups chemical etc, but after that, i’ll do my own.
Do you hve any tips on what to look for at least at the beginning or it is just regular testing as usual? I mean are there any level i should be particularly concerned AT the beginning or anything i should be expecting or it is business as usual? Should i leave salt chlorinator at the low setting as in season? Any tips you can share is greatly appreciated.

Before you turn on the SWCG, test the salt level using the drop method such as found using the Taylor K-1766 test kit.
What test kit do you have?
CYA, FC and pH are always the first ones to test but a complete test of all is best before adding any chemicals.
Check to determine if pool is clear? Any visual algae?

If youre not ready to tackle the mechanical side, that's one thing. Also, opening is a joke from the mechanical side. If your cover is heavy, get some friends or neighbors. It only takes a couple mins. Like 2. Once it's dry, it light enough for 2 people or maybe even 1.

Then you unscrew some things, screw in some other things and gravity floods the plumbing. 15 mins tops. (Your first time will be much longer fumbling through it but we will help)

Anywho, I wouldn't let anyone touch my water, so I advise you handle the chemical side of it. Mix it well and post your #s and we'll walk you though it.

I rather hav someone opening and closing so that i have someone to call if something major happens and do maintenance when i am not home for longer periods…

YES. Please do a complete set of tests and post. Then it is easier to make recommendations.
