Meet Marshmallow (not sold on the name yet but it’s growing on me …) -

IMG_4990.jpeg

She is Meringues little sister (from the same parents) -

As you can see, they are spitting images of one another. Marshmallow still has her puppy fur which is a bit darker than Meringue’s so we’ll see how that changes as she grows. But, for now , Meringue has been introducing her new sister to all her favorite toys and they got to play fetch outside … Marshmallow likes to nip at Meringue but Meringue knows how to give her a good hip-check to put the little squirt in her place. Marshmallow seems like she’ll probably be bigger and a bit more stout than Meringue as Meringue is considered small for her breed. They are both Goldendoodles.

I guess I won’t be getting much sleep again … 🫩🥱

Crate training is key. When Meringue (the 4 year old) was a puppy, we were consistent in that and, even though we could never train her to go in on her own, all I had to do was put my hand on her back and walk her in the direction of the crate and she went right in with no hesitation. She could spend hours in the crate happily resting or chewing on bully sticks. She would sleep overnight in it as well. We have since abandoned putting her in a crate as she is very dependable at home when we leave her (no chewing on anything or damage). The house is basically her crate.

We will train Marshmallow the same way. She’ll get there, just takes time and patience ….

Once my girl got trustworthy enough to be left out and showed no signs of attempting to destroy beds we put a fluffy bed in her crate. She also has one in the living room. (She likes the serta ones)
At night she either sleeps in her crate bed or my daughters bed. We haven’t closed the crate door in years. Its like her own little house (we have it covered) and she goes there when she wants to get away during the day as well.

If I can't afford a Serta mattress my dog would certainly not get one.
They were actually some of the cheapest for the size we needed- she weighs nearly 100# so a $20 bed isn’t happening- might as well just throw down a towel.
& They have orthopedic foam insterts that can be removed (or encased in plastic) instead of that terrible loose stuffing that looks like hair 🤮
I got them at Sam’s for like $40 & $50
They are high enough quality that I can vacuum them daily and clean them with my little green machine just like the couch occasionally. I’ve had both of them for several years.

Well, then I guess dogs get better deals than people do. Let's not forget that Soylent is People! People just don't get a break.

Your 70’s dystopian sci-fi movie reference earns you a +10 in bonus points!! Loved that movie as a kid … and The Andromeda Strain too.
