New to me pool - Progress pics

I'm sure it will get worked out eventually!
Nate has a few more days of discounted orders to ship and is swamped I'm sure. Usually he has most members on their way to being fixed up in 12 hours (shipping obviously excluded). I actually keep track when we call on him because I constantly recommend his business, which he earns over and over. But that's one of the huge benefits of dealing with TFtestkits. The owner is available and steps in to make it right. Good luck getting Bezos to return your call.

Ok... Thoroughly stumped. I have added 2.5 gallons of chlorine today, and its already back to not showing at all on my tester. Additionally the SWG has been running for over 8 hours, which is ~equivalent to another gallon.

~1 hour after adding, I show ~5 for chlorine. However it's completely toast after 3 hours or so. My CYA is fine, what the heck am I doing wrong?

Pool also went back to being skim milk cloudy, however I haven't added any chemicals other than chlorine, partial drain/refill.

I borrowed a neighbors testing kit to test the pool, and sure enough there is 0 chlorine present in the pool again.

I went ahead and started to SLAM the pool last night, as it looks even murkier than before. ~5.2 gallons per TFP app.

I checked again this morning, and added another gallon.

I then took a nap, and now its showing 0 chlorine again.

Going to restart the SLAM is check it every two hours. If it doesnt clear up in a day or two (or if the chlorine hits 0 again) im going to reach out to a local pool pro.

Slam works 100% of the time but it needs to be followed through to completion.

Nothing really counts before the reliable testing started. We wipe the slate clean from there.

Ok, test kit arrived! I stopped the slam about 2 days ago as the chlorine started to level off.

Here's how it looks.

------------------------------------------
Build Type: Plaster
Volume: 21500 gallons
Chemistry: SWG
------------------------------------------
Latest Test Result Summary:
FC: 7.5
CC: 0.0 - 0.5 (it was maybe slightly tinted?)
pH: 7.5
TA: 80
CH: 350
CYA: 50
SALT: 3600
BORATES: 25
TEMPERATURE: 65°
CSI: -0.42
==========================================

I turned the SWG down to 20% (was at 80) and threw a chorine pick in a floater. They have some CYA in them and I could use a little.

I'll just watch the chlorine numbers and continue to aerate (raise ph) and acid to lower my TA more. PXL_20250405_191857505.MP.jpg

With FC holding well, clear water and no traces of algae whatsoever, Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to prove if the slam was in fact completed, or you need some more time with it.
To clarify, chlorine loss overnight was within SLAM recommendation, and water is clear.

Clarify further. Did you pass an OCLT ? An 'i wasn't specifically doing an OCLT, but only lost 0.5 FC overnight' counts as a pass. But we need to be clear it was done, even if unintentional. :)

Or you did it and passed and thats great too.

Good call.

I went ahead and used my new testing equipment last night, and it took 6 drops for the color to disappear (3ppm) with no color returning.

SWG off, no tabs in pool.

Tested this morning, and color started to disappear on 5 drops, however it completely disappeared on the 6th drop. No color returned with the additional drops.

Safe to say I passed overnight test 😊
