Jan 2025 IG pool build in Georgia, need liner re set!!!!

Pool should be full this afternoon, but we are expecting temps in the teens tonight, mid 20's next 2 nights, with high temps mid 30's to mid 40's. Wondering if I should run it? Or just leave it as is? I am not too concerned with whatever water goes into returns, and skimmer, and don't anticipate any water reaching the equipment, unless I actually turn it up. Thoughts??

Run to the hardware store or HD and get expandable Rubber plugs. (You probably have 1.5 inch openings in the returns/skimmers.)

Seal the returns and skimmers and the pool will be fine, even with an inch of ice. If the plumbing floods, it floods to the height of the pool water at the pad. If it's done perfectly, the vertical pipes will hold the airlock and only the horizontal pipes will flood well below the short term frost line, but any slight leak and you'll lose the air lock. Say. An unlubed pump lid. (Etc etc)

Or stop filling a few inches short of the return openings. (Thereby the skimmers too)

I get wanting to see that baby hum after all this time. I do. I swear on all things holy I do. :ROFLMAO:

But this has been how long in the making and 2 more days is peanuts. Why put water down the plumbing when it's going to be teens degrees ?

I agree. Will see what pool builder recommends. Soil temp here is 50 degrees. a night in the teens will bring it down to about freezing in the 2" depth.

Option C is fill everything and fire it up, but today/tomorrow is not the day to have a hiccup with the untested equipment.

Give Murphy an inch and he'll take a mile. He's a 🤬 like that. 🤣

BTW, obviously we went with the dark blue liner. Royal Amber. Looks nothing like the visualizer on the Latham site, but we expected it as the small sample was much darker than the visualizer. Do I wish it was slightly lighter? Yes, but we all know it will fade as time goes on. Also, checked water meter. We are at 14,500 gallons total for water. The online calc estimated 17k. I thought 17k was a bit high.

Winter water is much darker. The snapshots in any brochure are a joke and it'll be an infinite amount of shades down your general color choice. It'll even hit hints of aqua and teal at times.

You do know it's a sacred right of passage to jump in the day the pool is filled, right ? Although it's been chilly, your municipal water run below the frost line is probably the same 55 that mine was both times.
