Not really sure whats happening but I end up with this today instead of it just being inline with text as normal - so far just this 1 emoji ? I have tried several but obviously not all. The insert image thing immediately pops up.
Super weird.
Using iPhone ios 18.2.1
Same occurrence Via both safari and webapp shortcut

Rockin the Old-school tech…

😜
I like my home button & don’t like giant phones. Probably gonna upgrade to the se3 sometime after the se4 comes out. This phone will likely be supported for 2-4 more years so I may just replace the battery & save my coins 🤑

My muscle memory still causes me to tap the bottom of the screen right above the charging port … old habits and old dogs, I suppose .

Can’t talk though, this is me chatting it up on an iPhone 14 … June will probably be my upgrade to the 16 right before they launch the 17 😂. My 6th grader soon to be Jr Highschooler will need a phone next school year (he’ll be on a new campus) so this one will be handed down.

My kids didn’t get one until they started 9th grade- to hear them tell it they are basically lepers 😂

Yeah. My kids school is transitioning from K-8 to K-6 and then moving 7th and 8th to Jr Highschool next year on a different campus. Since my kids will split up, on different release times and my Highschool son at a different school across town, it’s going to be hectic and so I need to be able to be in contact more easily. I may look into one of those lobotomized smartphones for my 12yr old son since he really doesn’t need anything more than a phone and text messages. We will see …

You can do this to an old iphone - its called guided access. I’ve done it for the elderly- just a button for each contact & a keypad if u want.
Or just lock it down via restrictions and screentime. That’s what I did with my kids. I can adjust settings from my phone from anywhere.
Whatever you do don’t lie about your kid’s age when setting up apple id. I did that with my daughter’s & it seems it cannot be undone. She’s currently 9 on her apple account. But actually 18 years old now. I stupidly thought it wouldn’t matter much & wanted to protect her birthdate along with having restrictions in place past 13 years old. All the ways to attempt to change it have been fruitless. I’m probably gonna have to call them or make her a new one.

I’m an avid user of the Screentime feature. I just wish cell phone carriers gave better control over connectivity. Not only would I like to be able to do content and access restrictions using screen time, but it would also be nice to completely kill their cellular connection with the flick of a web or app button. I’m sure Google and all the other tech companies truly believe in their hearts that a 13 years old is an autonomous and self-directing human being but they only get to make that decision for me and my kids when they actually pay the bills for their care and do their laundry every week. As soon as Mark Zuckerberg sends me a weekly check for the cost of raising my kids and shows up on laundry day to help out with the piles of clothes around the house, then I’ll consider letting him have a say in what they get to do.

Att used to let you cut the phone off or kill their data via an app. I think now its an add on service.
We use a cheap small mvno carrier.
My kiddos started with a talk & text only plan. Now they have a small amount of high speed data that they must use wisely with content restrictions in place. Life 360 uses most of it. My son jokes that he has a phone but it doesn’t do anything🤣
Kinda like Obama’s phone as he described on Fallon.
He cannot add contacts or anything & doesn’t really have any apps.
