And....once you get the setting for the current season dialed in, your need for testing goes way down too! The only routine chemical you may need to add on a weekly/semi-monthly basis: muriatic acid.
No chlorine of any kind. When all is balanced, no need to even have any on hand. I bought 2 cases of liquid last spring, and have now aged them to almost 0% concentration. My tablets are 3 yrs old (from prior to salt conversion), and only used in a floater if I go away for a week or more.
Yes, you will have to add CYA perhaps once a year. Maybe deal with high TA (or very rarely low TA) a couple of times a year. Salt once or twice a year.

Finally, you can run your pump 24/7 at a very low speed, which saves massive amounts of electricity - so your bill will be far lower.
