Pentair Pool Valve

I was going to change my diverter after finally figuring out I was leaking water to my backwash, but then I notice a piece below the diverter appears to be broke. Do I need to replace the whole valve or will just replacing the diverter still work? Not sure what this piece is. Thanks

You can just replace the diffuser.

Can you give us the mpv part number?
Does the broken part come out of the diffuser?
Show us the underside of the diverter valve.

The outer ring (around the broken rod) is typical to maintaining center of the valve. Your particular model may have the added rod.

I'd reassemble and test. I think the outer ring should be sufficient.

I was going to replace with Diverter W/ Gasket 272512 or just replace with the Pentair 272531 Hi-Flow Top Valve Assembly. The broken part does not come out.

Thanks for the pics. I don't think it is broken. The outer ring is sufficient to center the valve. I think it is the gate from manufacture (molding process).

Replace the gasket, or as you indicated, diverter with gasket.
