My luck it is raining now and the next few days. Pool guy will not be here until no rain. Running filter only about 4 hours at night before i go to sleep so that i can turn it off if the pipe bursts?? Right now only dripping even with me having wrapped the hole area with that self fusing silicone tape. But chemicals holding as u can c by my logs. Oh boy. Mother nature messing me up now
You need 20 mins to mix the daily FC add. If you had a few mins to spare in the AM, doing it twice a day would be even better.
The pool may get a little bit dirty with no filtering, but it will be sanitary. You'll owe the pool the filtering hours you missed after it's fixed, but no harm done.

So i am totally ok by doing what i am doing and just wait for this guy to come when the rain stops ?? Just keep an eye on things. I actually vacuumed the pool this morning at 6 am before work thinking that if the guy did come today he would c a clean and clear pool. I am OCD.

If you keep running it 4 hours a night, you probably won't even have to catch up any filtering once it's fixed. There isn't much environmental crud blowing in right now. The trees shed some kind of late season pollen/dust just before the leaves drop, kinda like one last hurrah, but that's still a month or more away.
Pool guy never came. I was given another recommendation but i dont think anyone will come in the rain. But what annoys me is that i asked the first guy twice thru text if he would come when it stops raining and he never replied???? I think he got annoyed because in one text he said he has a $6000 liner job he had to finish. So my response was that i totally understood but that i hoped he would fit me in instead of pushing me back for other jobs. Si i think(not sure) thst he got upset?? I said nothing wrong. He should have some courtesy at the least. Ot seems that a lot of customer service has gone out the window. All i know is i work in pharmacy and i treat everyone with respect no matter what. I guess i am just old school. If that guy does not reply by tomorrow with any reply then i will go to the other persons recommendation. I am just giving the first guy another chance.

I find trades are like that nowadays. Unless it’s a large job it’s not easy finding someone to show up. My wife ended up painting the kitchen cabinets herself.

Luckily you have some time because it hasn't burst yet (and probably won't IMO). Even if it did, you could drop a submersible pump in there to stir it up twice a day. Filtering sure is nice but it's easy to keep the water from going green without it. And at the moment it's still filtering.
Your solar cover will stop the bulk of the crud from falling in, and this time of year it's not much anyway so you really have a couple things going for you.
YouTube PVC repair also. It's about the easiest thing you can learn on the fly. What you'll spend to pay someone will cover the cost of a good pair of pipe cutters many times over. You'd be paying for the parts and glue either way.

I agree. Pool still clean and while i have this problem i am running the filter between 6 pm and 10 pm so i can monitor it instead of my regular shift from 9 pm till 6 am. Since i am on this schedule topic. Can or should i lower in the future my filtering hours to lets say 9 pm to 4 am or so. So instead of the 9 hours now maybe only like 6-7 hours in the future. ?
Whatever it needs, it needs. If the water is stoopid clear, you can probably lower the filtering time. If it starts to haze a little, you need more filtering time.

But how do u shut off the water once i remove that tubing. Wont water start to flow out?? I appreciate u for thinking i can do this. Maybe next time. A bit too nervous
Any hardware store or home center will have expanding rubber plugs. Plug the return and skimmer to stop the flow from the pool.
No harm in that.
First guy came by today. Went with him because his price was only $125 compared to the second guy who wanted $240. So all done.

That and the 1st guy was standing on site. He gets high marks for that alone.
Tons of rain. My fc is 5. Will bring it back to 9. But my pH dropped to 7.2. Should i raise it wih borax that i bought or leave it?? The pool math said to add but i trust u guys a bit more. Also my TA is only 50. Should i add some baking soda as well?? Pool math says to add. What is ur suggestions. I definitely am adding the bleach. Let me know ur feelings on the pH and TA. Thanks. If i add baking soda or borax. I use the same cup pyrex glass that i use for the bleach. So how do u measure 26 ounces of powder. Same as i would do for the bleach??

I'd go with +10 TA using baking soda. It may pull the Ph up a little. If not a 7.2 is entirely fine.
So i need 26 oz. Of baking soda. Just pour the powder into that measuring cup and distribute around pool or just pour it all by the jet port

Either is fine. Brush afterwards. I've always just broadcast it like chicken feed.
