I have a customer new install. Pool is almost full we just need 1 or 2 thousand gallons more. I suggested the poly fill bucket method and he didn’t seem to keen on that and said he has a hose spigot in his garage that is treated through a water softener system to wash his cars. I also have been using a product called ReVive which is supposed to capture iron and copper up to 2 ppm. It has helped tremendously for new installs as far as concrete and keeping it from scaling. I’m just not sure about how it”ReVive” actually captures iron or copper. Our water delivery guy brings 5000 gallons at a time I’m trying to save him and us some money.

It’s a floc. Probably poly aluminum chloride or sulfate based. Flocs will not only remove particulate matter but some can also cause metals and phosphates to precipitate.
Running out a water softener to fill a pool is generally not a good idea as it puts a lot of stress on the resin bed and you get much less efficiency when water is free flowing through the resin. Most softener resins need a certain amount of contact time with the water volume to efficiently exchange metal ions. You can certainly do it for the last few thousand gallons but I suggest running it slowly and monitoring the system so you’re not running the spigot when it regenerates.

He is also not sure what type of salt he used in the water softener. I know anything with rust eliminator or any other additive is not good. It will be a salt water pool when it’s clean and complete.

The additives in softener salt are almost always sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP). It’s relatively harmless. Plus it doesn’t really matter because softener salt should all be rinsed out after regeneration. Softeners don’t add salt to the water, the salt strictly for regeneration. The SHMP bonds to iron before it can irreversible bond to the softener resin and it should all get flushed out with the backwash and rinse cycle.
There's also this kind of salt for the softener when it's well water being treated. Not sure it will mitigate the problem using this water from the spigot mentioned.
