Betta SE Plus

I finally got around to putting mine into the pool.

how do you handle it with pool cleaners?

Do you leave both in the pool or operate them individually?

Currently I took mine out to see how this operates but I prefer to leave it in the pool so I don’t have to mess with any of them.
I'm asking myself the same questions. This morning before work I checked on mine and it was still chugging along and had collected around 6 leaves overnight. However, there were just as many leaves on the bottom of the pool so I'll likely need to run the Polaris cleaner like I have been. I just know that they can't both work together since the hose would get in the way.

I took my Polaris 280 out of the pool and now only use a robot Aiper Scuba 1 (standard) - so one does the bottom and the other does the surface. I was holding out for years using a corded robot and now very pleased with 2 hoseless or cordless robots. The pool has never been cleaner

That sounds like the ideal setup! I'll have to look into that other robot cleaner as an alternative to our Polaris.

My betta (or bettas when the 2nd one works (expecting new one)) operate with the Polaris 360 doing it’s thing at the bottom of the pool 24/7/365. I played around with the tubing floats on the polaris to optimize the hose staying below the water surface. When I see them getting entangled I add more water to the pool. They get along fine with the added water. If the polaris decides to get hung up for some reason the betta sometimes pushes the hose just enough for the polaris to get over its issue. I don’t run out immediately any more when I see a polaris or betta problem. They seem to figure it out eventually. If still having problems after several hours I’ll intervene.

If I spent as much time relaxing in the pool as I do analyzing my robot behaviors life would be boring!

I’m still on the fence with the bettabot. I don’t get much debris in the pool but I do get a fine layer of dust or some sort of debris on top. I was hoping this would take care of it, however it hasn’t performed as well as I expected.

I feel it pushed the debris to the side and doesn’t pick it up.

I have it out of the pool at the moment because I’m running the pool cleaner but it should be finishing a cycle soon and I’ll put it back in.

I did clean the yard and got a bunch of debris in the pool however I just used the net.

I’ve been using this since Sunday. It does operate fine and moves around the pool without any sort of issues.

My view is that it is a supplement to the skimmers. My skimmers do not get everything floating and the wind has a factor in that. The Betta has been able to keep the surface moving and the basket is always full so it is doing its job and possibly getting debris before it sinks to bottom. Plus, my skimmers have debris in each as well. So for the $500 for the Betta I really like that it is on the surface 24/7 helping remove debris.

I need to adjust my returns for better movement for the skimmer.

The other part is I probably don’t run it high enough.

I usually run it at 1100 rpm 24/7 unless I’m adding a chemical then I bump it to 2400 for a few hrs.

I’ve always struggled with the fine debris on top.

So far my Betta hasn't collected much, but there hasn't been much falling in the pool (yet). I think the real benefits will be seen in the fall and spring when all sorts of things will be falling from the trees around our pool. I currently run my pump at 1600 RPM 6:00AM-9:00PM and the skimmers do a great job at collecting things on their own. I will say that I'm impressed that the Betta has yet to get stuck by a skimmer with the pump running. It gets pulled towards it and then it just powers through it and continues on its way.

Given this is the first time owning a pool for us we aren't sure what we will do in the fall to keep the leaves out (cover versus no cover). Right now I'm leaning towards no cover and just using a combination of the Betta, our skimmers, and our skimmer net to clean out the leaves. We may change our mind after this first season though.

Just dropped betta se plus into pool. Does this thing just run all day no way to set for an 1hr or 2?

Mine runs 24/7 all the time. I took it out of the pool to swim a bit and, even though it was off, it kept on running. LOL... mine does not even allow you to turn it off anymore. What a great work ethic!

It wants to go swimming with you too, it works hard all day and wants to have some fun too.

I like my new Betta bot, but it definitely gets hung up in my robot cleaner's cord. Any ideas for a float/sinker that I could attach to the robot's cord to keep it below surface?
I know folks have attempted to remedy that, I don’t think anyone has had much success however. Some have switched to cordless bots as it’s a great combination. I have both a corded one and a cordless one. When I have to run my corded bot I just take my Betas out.

Hey @Orion7319, I know you said you had a lot of pine needles getting in the pool. Do you ever have issues with the pine needles getting wrapped up around the shaft of the propeller? I had a bad storm the other night and found mine running in a small circle. Pulled it out and emptied basket and found a wad of pine needles wrapped around the shaft of one of the impellers. Not a big deal to remove, just curious if you've had this happen. I travel quite a bit for work and would hate for it to sit there running in a circle 24/7 and potentially damage a motor or shaft/seal.

Just a heads up that Amazon has these on sale for $279 today.
I think that is for the regular SE. SE Plus is $329 with a $21 instant coupon. Betta via Amazon processed a difference refund as I was still in my 30 day return window. Basically covered most of the cost of the extended warranty. Very quick response and no questions asked.

Yep, the pine needles are their nemesis.
