Allow me first to state that I know NOTHING about pools and I'm not getting a lot of support where I am located. Having said that, my question today centers around the skimmer. I have an inground pool, unconventionally 17' x 30' with a consistent depth of 4 feet. We bought the house in May and the pool was a literal bog with all kinds of wildlife living in it. We have drained the pool, had it cleaned, and a new liner installed. A new skimmer was needed as well, but here is where I am confused. The pool has two output ports and one intake. The skimmer appears to have two holes, both of which appear plugged. I do not understand how there is adequate dispensation of chlorine or any other granular or cake chemical if what is not cycling through the skimmer. Should one of these holes be opened at all times. Also, I have a Hayward SP1106A skim plate for vacuuming that sits on top of the basket. Is that plate supposed to stay there all the time or only when vacuuming. It actually seems to be impeding water flow to the basket. In any case, I am obviously totally confused on the circulation components of this swimming pool. I hope I have provided enough detail, but as a novice I may be omitting something so please advise accordingly. Thanking any and all in advance.- Tod
