Found an itty bit of algae behind the foam on the weir door. Attached a picture of the lights on at night- there are small specks floating in front of it. Is that normal or something else? In daylight pool is crystal clear.

Do I need to take cover out to inspect it? No idea how to do that. Or do you suggest diving underneath it?

You will always see the fine stuff at night unless you filter like mad 24/7 and you may never get it without floaties.

Ok. I’m getting white residue on the floor daily and running the vacuum several times to get it up. Looks like DE- is that dying algae?

But I’ll have to close it eventually. And the water has been at chlorine levels at or above slam almost constantly for about 11 days now

It’s pretty white and it feels like very very fine sand. I backwashed this morning. We cleaned the filter with hose spray 5-6 days ago.

When I brush it I see it cloud into the water but then disappear

when we cleaned the filter and when I empty the vacuum if I touch the powder later we’ll feel pins and needles on our arms wherever it touched us.

On filter or recirc, is there ANY water coming out the backwash pipe/hose? It could be that your MPV spider gasket is bad, or you have a hole in the grids.

Ok. That’s what I thought - but not taking anything for granted currently. Don’t notice any water coming out of the backwash hose but would be very hard to tell that. I can deal with that issue later.

The underside of the auto cover is impossible to clean but if you make a mild bleach solution and use a pump sprayer while the cover is fully closed go stand at the deep side of the pool and spray/wet the first 6 feet of the cover it's full width then open it to the point where the wet part rolled up and do the next 6 feet, rinse and repeat till the whole cover is done. At this point the underside gets treated best you can with bleach to kill off any undesirables. You may need to do it several times to keep it in check but this method I've used with good results.
