Got 4 inches of rain in an hr last night. Thankfully the outside ground didnt flood in the pool (had that happen before), but the pool overflowed (inground) out.

I already had chlorine high (10ish) due to recent other rains and trying to avoid an algae outbreak. All other levels were pretty good before the event.

Im draining (backwash because why waste free water, and then waste) to a proper level. Following, will probably re-SLAM and validate everything else. Anything else to try to do proactively to avoid a green mess?

Sounds like you're already on top of it. :goodjob: Just double-check the test results after you've lowered the water level and go from there.

Fire,

I agree with Texas, it sounds like you are on it. I recently had the same thing happen to me. We had 5 inches in 3 days and the pool overflowed. We had an infinity pool and didn't even have to pay extra for it.

First thing I did was ensure I had plenty of Chlorine.
I then drained it to the desired level.
Did a thorough test (FC, CC, pH, Ca, TA, CYA, and salt (ours is a salt pool)).
I had to basically add everything to get the water back to balanced. Worked pH & TA, Salt, CYA, and then Ca in that order.

However, I NEVER got any trace of algae even starting. Best thing that happened was that the rain actually cooled the water down so it was even more refreshing. No worries. You got this.

Same thing happened the last two days this week. Don't know the amounts but we got a ton of rain and flooding here in northern Indiana. Even saw a car submerged in the ditch along the road on the way home yesterday where the water had been across the road.

I had to laugh at the infinity pool comment because I told my wife I'd rather have to drain than add and this water I didn't have to pay the water company for lol

Lowering, testing and adjusting is the key. Our pool didn't overflow but it sure got full.

We had 3.25 inches Tuesday, as measured in my wife’s rain water collection container. My AGP overflowed through the skimmer. I had to drain the excess and then ran a full range of tests. Luckily, my values were well within range so had minimal adjusting to do.
