I’ve been engaging in my (apparently) annual hyper fixation with pool care, obsessively reading sites, watching YouTube videos, scouring the web to learn as much as I can about pool care. I did this last year when I had my Intex Easy-set 10’x30”, but somehow didn’t find TFP, so I ended up using Clorox Xtra blue 6-in-1 to shock once a week, and in tinier doses or occasionally, liquid chlorine to sanitize throughout the season. It was okay, but I think I only had a truly crystal clear pool twice during the summer.

This year, I discovered TFP, and got my first liquid test kit (OTO). I have a small Taylor kit on the way, but in the meantime, I have been comparing my OTO to the strips I had leftover from last year. I gave the pool math app a try for the first time, and I feel so accomplished! My alkalinity was around 200 (!) , chlorine at 1ppm, and I did my very own pool science and fixed up my levels for the evening!

I’m looking forward to getting my Taylor testing kit and getting to that truly crystal clear water. I just wanted to share the joy of dipping my toe into “real” testing and adjustment. Lol, maybe after a while the novelty will wear off, but for now, I’m feeling pretty good about the process!

Happy swimming!

Once you get the "bug", it becomes an obsession! :D I've been loosely following the TFP way for 20+ years and honestly when you get your pool in the TFP zone all other pools look sickly! My oldest son wouldn't go into pools that were not looking like our pool.

But the great news is once you get the hang of it, it is easy and easier then having issues and having to counter act them!

This is awesome! And good to know that it starts to get easer/faster as you keep it up. Lol, I love that your son takes a look, and is just "hard pass" on the sickly pools. :D
