Earlier today I saw what I felt was unusually high pressure of almost 20psi in my IG pool with a Hayward DE6020 filter. Usually I run around 15. I figured I would just pull the grid and clean it vs backwashing which I did without issue. But when I fired the pool back up I was shocked to see so much DE blow into the pool through the return jets. Never had that happen before. It was only a few seconds worth, but enough to turn the whole pool cloudy.
I did suspect a worn spider gasket in my Hayward Sp715 multi port valve, so I opened that up and replaced it. Honestly it looked pretty good, but I did find a few knicks in it that were likely the cause of leak down I would hear even when set to Closed or Recirc. Now I just need to get the DE out, and I know I can vac it out, but why won't the pool also filter what's floating in the water? How is this any different than adding DE to the skimmer when recharging the pool? Or will it do that for what's suspended, but unless you keep brushing and brushing, the only way to get what drops to the floor is to vac?
Here's the current situation. Makes me so mad. Pool was immaculate this morning before cleaning the cartridge.
Thanks
