0 CYA and 0 FC. Need advise

I lowered my prime to 3000 rpm a few yrs ago and only let it backwash until I see the water turning clear in the site glass. Then I put it on rinse for a few seconds. Then back to filter. I have my VSP set to 2600 for 10 hrs, which starts at 9 am, then it goes down to 1800 rpm for 8 hrs then to 1400 rpm for the remaining 6 hrs. These are the setting I have found to work best for my pool.

Normal operation wouldn't blow media out of the filter, just BW. I've seen it when priming runs about 3400. I don't want to be overly alarmist, but just provide food for thought. You're probably just fine.

I’m not sure what’s going on. My FC drops at least by 3 every day. Water is crystal clear and here are all of my tests I just did

FC 2.5 (so I added 1 gal of liquid 12.5% chlorine, which should bring it to 9 FC)

CH 150

I did an ammonia test just to be sure it’s not back and it was negative. We’ve had a ton of rain this month so I’m hoping that’s what keeps dropping my FC.

I did an ammonia test just to be sure it’s not back and it was negative. We’ve had a ton of rain this month so I’m hoping that’s what keeps dropping my FC.

UV and normal sanitation will use chlorine. A daily 3 ppm loss doesn’t seem unreasonable. Dose to 9 and when you have daily loss of 3 ppm you’re still at 6 and in range for your CYA.

If you’ve been dipping below min (4ppm) you may want to consider an
Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.

If you have a CYA of 50 you surely don't have ammonia.

I had done the ammonia test just before the CYA test. I should’ve done it the other way around but at least I know it’s not an issue. Pool was great until I used my manual vacuum a month ago (which sat outside all last summer and had a dried up mouse nest in it-yuk!!). Now I get some rust colored dust in my skimmer openings. Not bad at all but almost daily. That manual vac hose is going in the garbage this week!!
