Strange Salt Cell Issue

Those are open and also flimsy. I wouldn't trust them not ripping.

It's easy enough to hang the sock, so why risk the pump shutting off with acid soaking in the skimmer ?

You can get crafty with it. I usually need alot and use a Tshirt tied up like I'm a hobo on a freight car.

LOL that's quite the setup. Any reason I shouldn't raise it to 70-80 now vs the 50?

Your cage will cut down some of the UV loss and you likely won't need it as high as open FL pools.

Plus it's still early in the season.

Raising the CYA also raises your FC targets so you only want what you need.

So I think it is too early to see how the stabilizer took I actually only added 2lbs yesterday and need some more but I am sitting at 40 when I just tested. I will try again later and add some more if needed.

So I am not sure if you all can tell but my Ph color is more of a reddish orange and at first thought it was in-between 7.2-7.4 but I can not tell. Are there any other Ph test that I should be doing because these colors are tough for me to make out.

Looks like 7.8.

I dont know hoe you can make that out, they never match anything to me unless I am color blind. Is there any other form of reliable Ph test?

There’s fancy electronic meters that are expensive and need to be calibrated and stored in a special way.

Note: the colors won’t ever match. It’s the hue you are trying to match. You’re just trying to determine if it’s more pink or more orange. Some people say adding 4 drops of the reagent helps sometimes. If it’s orange, the pH is too low. If it’s bright pink, it’s too high. If it’s somewhere in between, pick one that’s closest and move on with your day. As long as the pH is 7.something it’s fine.

It also helps to get a white piece of paper and put it behind the tubes so you don’t get interference from the backyard landscape.

Did we go over my PH trick yet? (Apologies if so, its that time of year i'm repeating it alot :ROFLMAO:).

I take a thumb from each hand and block off the values above and below what I want to compare. I find it much easier to ask yes or no, instead of best of 3. If I'm dead set it's neither of the 2 closest values, call it in the middle and it's way close enough.

For example:
