Hi All,

I am looking at either the Latham 5000M PoolTux Mesh 91% density mesh or the Latham 7000MS PoolTux upgraded 99% density.

My current Loop Loc has shredded so I need a replacement and Latham is currently offering free shipping and templating. Does anyone have any pros/cons of the two densities? I am in NY, so closed from about late September to early April, but do not get much debris from trees, etc. Thank you in advance for your opinions.

I'm not sure what those density percents mean. Do they affect water permeability? I thought the denser the cover the better, but you want it to let the water go through. Anyway, since I upgraded 6 years ago to a heavier and denser safety cover, I am opening my pool in mid- or even late May to a much cleaner water.

All safety covers are mesh covers. The % is the density of the weaving. 100% is "solid" and impermeable. 98%/99% looks solid even if you hold it up to a light but allows water to squeeze through ever so slooowly. 90% to 95% is more like a very fine screen which will allow bigger particles and maybe even sand through.

With a solid cover you need to pump the top occasionally. With permeable covers you need to pump the pool occasionally. Either way you're pumping and it's personal preference how.

The less material the cover has, the easier / more manageable it is to install and remove.

It's subjective but I bought a 98 which was looplocs version. They had mesh, dense mesh and solid.

We were torn on gray and blue. Gray blended in nicely and blue would have looked like water at a glance. We HATED the tennis court green at the old place. It just stood out way too much.

The blue likely would have looked nice too, but we LOVE the gray.

We are leaning gray also. Our pools look similar in size. Do you put the cover on yourself or have someone do it (wondering if 98/99 is much heavier than the 20 year old loop loc I’m getting rid of)

I do it myself but need the Mrs to help me fold/unfold it.

For example, she helps me fold it accordian style to remove it. Once it's on the patio we fold the long rectangle piece a few times to a square. Then I carry it solo out to the yard and she helps me unfold it to dry, then fold it back up to store it. The cover is a bit heavy when wet.

Putting it on I carry it out there and she helps me walk it across the pool. This part is easy peasy because it floats.
