Hello, can anyone help me with black and mustard algae? How much liquid chlorine shock I need? And after battling with algae how much liquid chlorine should I add to pool and how many times a week? Thanks!

I see them! We bought the house recently and moved in about 5 days ago . The chlorine level and cyr was very high then i didn’t do anything and was waiting till move in to exchange the water, there was small amount of black algae but now is more and a lot of mustard algae. I brushed it sometimes but I need to do regularly

Not well. You would need a FC level of 60 with CYA of 150.

You should drain 80% of your pool and get your CYA down to 30-40 for the SLAM Process

Pour 5ppm of liquid chlorine in the pool daily to stop the algae spread until you begin the SLAM Process.

It looks like copper.

It is spreading because, when you add chlorine, the copper gets oxidized to black.

Black algae mainly grows in pitted areas where it is protected.

Black algae is a soft bacteria, like black mold.

If you scrape black algae, you get colors like dark green, blue or black.

If you can't scrape any off, it is not black algae.

Remove the stains with sulfamic acid then drain the pool and refill with fresh water.

Pools can pop out of the ground when drained, so make sure to consult a local professional expert to make sure that you can drain without floating the pool.
