First time pool startup

It can, you are killing algae. Post up a pic, we can usually tell the stage you are in from the pic.
Added below. The before photo also added. So clearly we’re moving the right way. But just want to be sure. I haven’t been keeping up with logging my chlorine deposits, but I have been keeping up to slam level to a T.

You are in the late stages. Now it is POP time. Sand filters just take a while to clear the pool. Have you been backwashing?

You might also try adding DE to the filter...

For backwashing…. Do I backwash until clear? and that’s usually 2-3 minutes? It didn’t seem to get clear clear. Only “not yellow/green”

So I run backwash until clear even if it’s over 3 minutes? And then rinse until clear again?
A few minutes should be fine. Clear is relative. When I can see through the glass and it is no longer obviously full of dirt/debris I stop. It is rarely over 3 minutes...is is solid dirty for 3 minutes?

No, it’s not really dirty at all. It’s just cloudy. I shouldn’t backlash unless my psi is high, correct? So if my resting is 10 psi- what would be the psi to backwash?

25%, so 12.5. Is your pump VS or 2 speed ?
I’m also definitely seeing some sand in my dolphin when I bring it up from like a three hour clean. Is that normal since I’ve been backwashing? Assuming some got into the pool from that?

Also seeing some paint chips from what I assume to be is paint coming off my pool lol nervous for it to be clear but assuming that’s not the chlorine doing it, and is just old paint.

Tough to say. Both my pools have always had sand with a cartridge filter. At the last place, ants and the paver base was an easy blame, but this time the pavers lay directly on a slab.

Are you using the rinse setting after backwashing ?

Yes I am rinsing for like 15-20 seconds after backwash

So I just passed my FC overnight loss test. But naturally the pool is still super cloudy. Just continue slam until it’s clear yes?

Yes. Can you post a picture of the current pool water?
Definitely not getting any clearer. I’ve been using the dolphin twice a day for three hour rounds so the sides and bottom are getting brushed regularly.
