Are there caps or anything on the other end of the handrails? Can u take a pic looking at the ladder? Just trying to figure out if it’s solid (where no water could enter it) or not & if not how u might be able to get said water out since it’s not removable.

Oof, that's unfortunate. Not a good way to install a ladder. Now it can't be replaced if it ever gets damaged, etc. without cutting it off at the concrete. :/

You could try to pull the bottom of the ladder away from the vinyl liner and get the plastic cap off, then brush it out inside with a brush like one shown upthread. Just be careful when you do. The uncapped end could rip the liner if it rubs against it. Maybe wedge something behind the ladder to make sure it doesn't spring back against the liner.

Not liking the rust on the ladder either. Makes me worry about iron getting into your pool. But I don't have much advice there.

Sure. Just checked with the new kit and I can still fill the entire tube up and see the black dot. Should I add some more stabalizer?

Current fc 12 cc 0. The pool is still very hazy and not really improving. Robot is still running and I'm pretty confident the bottom is clear. The pressure on the pump hasn't been rising the last couple of days, is this normal?

I'd be curious to know if you pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. Normally I'd wait until the water is just about clear, but your thread and descriptions have me wondering about your filter. I don't recall seeing it earlier in the discussion, but how old is the filter/sand? If you pass the OCLT it might be worth opening it for a look or deep clean.

Stick with it though. I've seen otherwise cloudy water seem stuck then change overnight. It just needed that little bit of additional time.

Keep with it. Sand filters take the longest to clear.

I will test it first thing in the morning. I had the sand replaced two years ago. I haven't done any maintenance to it since then, mostly because I don't know what to do. I did have the same issue with the hazy water before I had the sand replaced and after thar it cleared up almost immediately. How often are you supposed to change/clean your filter/sand?

You should never have to replace the sand unless someone allowed floc or clarifier to get to it. As for a deep clean, it varies. Some people do it at every new season, some will go every 2-3 years. Some never do it until something goes wrong. But if you pass the OCLT and the water clarity doesn't change, it may be a good idea to do a deep clean.

Pool clarity hasn't improved at all. Fc 13 cc 0.5
Seems like it might be an issue with the filter. I have never used any floc or clarifier since I stumbled upon this place a few years ago. How do I go about doing a deep cleaning on the filter? Quick search shows I'll need some type of cleaner to pour in there. Is that correct?

Normally there is a collar at the base of the multiport valve that secures the valve to the body, however I'm not seeing it in the photo. Do you see something like that not viewable in the pic? Once the collar is loose, then you would just disconnect those unions and lift teh MPV up & off the filter so you can gain access inside.

I removed the collar already. How do I go about disconnecting the unions?

Ha ha. That might explain why I didn't see it. The unions twist apart. Hold one side (smaller part) and turn the other side (the larger ring) counter-clockwise. There's an O-ring between the two, so depending on how long they've been together they may be a little stuck.

Okay got the filter opened up. The water looks very dirty. Now I run the hose through it?

Yes. CAREFULLY insert a garden hose down towards the bottom. Be careful not to push aggressively or damage a lateral at the bottom. The whole intent is to get water to the bottom which will then lift up and fill the sand to break-up and compacted channeling and loosen debris that may have settled and could not be removed by a normal backwash.
