Pool frame/ grunite was completed, pavers around the pool 6 feet all 3 sides the. 5 feet out on one side. On the 5 foot side the pool company is adding a 10x10 pad with pavers also.

There advising me I might need footers installed to build the pad up too be flush with the pool deck. There saying that option B is to grade dirt in the area and pack it good enough so I don’t need a footer.

the down side of the footer for me
Is that we are already locked in a price and they are just now telling me this during the construction process, they want to charge $3800.00 for the footer.

so, install footer? Or risk it?

I know cost of supplies have gone up but that seems like a lot. I am getting a footer all the way around my deck which will be about 100 feet total and the highest price I was given was $5k (quote was from about 9 months ago). I guess you are not getting a lanai screen?

This really depends on the soil they are building the pad on. Did you do a soil sample or has an engineer signed off on the plan? If they need to bring in material and compact it, make sure it is “clean” material. The risk, in my view, is this 10X10 pad separates or settles away from the pool. Are you building on a hill or sloping ground?

No soil sample has been completed and I’m not sure if a engineer signed off. A permit was pulled though.. and the ground is almost flat. I guess the thing that bothers me is they knew planned on building a pad for me they should of advised me of needing a footer prior to entering the contract. But good to know about the “clean” soil.

Correct no lanai, I didn’t know what a footer was when I got into contract so I tried to save money and didn’t get a footer for the pool. I regret it now.
