There are 2 different rings.

For Impeller SPX3005C, SP3007C, SP3010C, use ring number SPX3005R;

For Impeller SPX3016C or above, use ring number SPX3021R.

The part numbers should be stamped on the ring and the impeller.

Based on the diffuser part number of SPX3000BN, the ring should be SPX3005R. I suspect that you have the wrong ring.

Split from Cracked Diffuser?
Just received oem hayward SPX3000BN for my Tristar...it came with the SPX3021R impeller ring in a sealed bag. My impeller is sp3210c.

I don't think that Hayward would package these 2 parts together to be sold as a set.

In any case, the information that you are quoting me on is correct for a Super II pump, which is what the poster had.

The TriStar is a different pump with a different set of parts.

Thanks James. The original diffuser (prior post you helped me on) which was damaged by the impeller ring probably due to 10 years of service has a part #SP3200B3. I stand corrected..the new OEM Hayward is a SP3200B3 and came with SP3021R in a sealed genuine Hayward bag. Anyway...installed the new diffuser with the ring and all worked fine except a new low rattle sound. I then removed the impeller ring, reassembled and rattle noise is gone . Still using the original impeller and noticed quite a bit wear where the ring sits which i think was causing the noise. FWI the pump is performing as it always has...plenty of pressure and suction for 4 jets ,1 skimmer, 1 cleaner port, 2 main drains and falls. I think a new impeller is in order but i am tempted to leave the ring out after seeing the damage it did . BTW all of this partial dissassy kind of a practice run for a new V Green 1.65 at the ready. Your advise so appreciated.

The impeller ring might be loose due to wear. You might need a new impeller and diffuser. Are you sure that the ring was installed correctly? It should say "This part towards strainer".

Yes..flange towards strainer. You had mentioned on a prior post my existing impeller size(SP3210C) should be fine with the V-green 1.65 ...any advantage with a different size as i will be ordering soon.
