We have 1000 square foot of concrete deck that was installed this past summer when we had our pool built. We live in South Carolina and heat is legit. We have two quotes, 1 is for $4 a square foot for Spraydeck using SGM products. The company was suggested by our Pool Builder and has very good reviews. The second quote is another well reviewed company who quoted $5 a square foot to install Kooldeck. Is it worth $1000 extra dollars for Kooldeck? The finish of both looks very similar.

I have acrylic. Although it does not have the cooling feature, it is more durable and because it is non porous, stain resistant. My deck is now over 15 years old and still looks good. The key is to touch up any chips or cracks so that water can never get under the surface and cause peeling. After several years in the Arizona sun, I just rolled a new top coat on and it looks just like new again. If you’re worried about hot surface, make sure to select a light color.

I've wondered what the price difference was for true Kool Deck. I thought I read that it needs to be applied within a certain amount of time after the deck is poured for best results. Could be wrong about that though.
We just got acrylic. We got an upgraded version called Reflecto-Seal. It's supposed to be 15° cooler than their standard formula. Maybe you could look into something like that.

Watching this thread from the upstate... We are in the process of adding an addition to our concrete. Our concrete guy says our old concrete is Spray deck (we moved in a year ago and the pool was built in 2005) I am not sure when the spray deck was put down but it still looks good. We have a few spots that could us touch up but mainly looking at how to best match the new concrete to the old. The spray deck doesn’t get overly hot and is not to slippery.
I will update as we get it completed. It will.probably be done in April.

Wow I just got a quote from one company, seems outrageously high. Waiting on another guy to come by that seemed more reasonable.

We have had ours completed and we are really pleased with the result. It was just over 1000 sq ft and the total cost was $4000. I have attached some quick pics I took this morning.

Its a Spray Deck. The contracted used a base layer with a texture and then used SGM for two color layers. Its great so far. Stuff sprays right off with a hose and the color is wonderful. I'll be really curious to see how much it helps the heat. When walking barefoot from our concrete driveway onto the spray deck it does seem cooler, but some of that may be wishful thinking lol.
