Yes entire pavers area. On that elevation area he is doing more rca on top of the concrete.
He says he wants to be hire in another 10 15 years with np.
And he is right he did work for us and our neighbors about 10 plus years ago.

Concrete isnt a good base for pavers in the northeast. Not saying your guy isnt good, but there are standards in that field of work. ICPI is the bible for hardscape work and you can look up recommended install practices on their site.

Yeah that's what my guy preaches. Small concrete collar around the pool for the bullnose coping then ICPI standards from there.

I had 3 different estimates and all if them talked about the same installation. Except for this one that's adding a drainage system for the gutter near garage/pool.
And all them said if I wanted to do sand then wait till April at least.
They all stayed away from a Dry Pack base.
So if anything I will see him again in a few years

I used Nicolock Alpine contemporary Oceanic Blue with Charcoal boarders.
Nicolock vs Cambridge around here.
But I used Nicolock like 15 years ago and never had problems with color.

That's because they question the backfill of the pool which is expected. The decking guy should be doing or supervising the backfill and stone should be used.
The biggest issue with concrete sub base is it WILL crack amd expand. Once you lay sand over it amd install pavers any cracks that make a void allows sand to settle amd in turn lets the pavers start "birdbaths" as we call them. Its good hes got rebar in the concrete, but a proper overlay requires some type of fabric over the slab to prevent that. That rebar needs to be bonded as well, fibermesh in the mix would have been a better choice. It's very important to have a uniform sub base and concrete sand thickness, you never want over an inch under the pavers, the final compact will settle them differently when doing your poly sand joints

Nice! My decision was Unilock vs Cambridge. In the end we went with Cambridge. My wife and I liked the color palate better.
