Lowering Ph using Muratic Acid

My Ph is fine (7.8) but the Alkalinity is 150. According to the pool math app I am to lower the PH to 7.2 and aerate the pool.

So how much pool acid should I use to lower it to that amount? I started with about 1.5 liters and will retest in 30 minutes or so but if there is a calculator out there for next time (or a formula) then it would be appreciated

The pool math app will tell you how much acid to use to lower the ph. We did this last year be careful on how much aeration to do. We way overshot our numbers and tanked the alkalinity and the ph went sky high.

Yes, use the TFP PoolMath APP or original PoolMath webpage to help you validate the amount of acid to use.

On a side note, if your pH isn't rising too fast, there's really no need to rush lowering the TA. It will fall slowly over the season anyways. But if you feel the need to lower the TA to prevent pH rising too fast, the acid-aeration method is a good tool to use.

The pool math app does not tell me how much to add .. just tells me to lower to 7.2 and aerate

PoolMath will give you the info - look at the bottom "Effects of adding chemicals" and change the drop-down to the acid you are using. Make sure you have the correct gallons set at the top.

I plugged in 12k gallons and it shows adding 20oz of 31.45% to drop it .4 (40 oz of 15.7%)

Edit to add: adding 30 (or 60) oz will get you to .6, but i prefer to "sneak up" on it by adding less than I think then re-check and add a splash more, if needed)

There is a tab or menu selection for "Effects of Chemicals". You'll want to use that menu option. So if you're trying to go from 7.8 to 7.0, just enter the applicable data and it should tell you based on the pool profile info already loaded. Make sure to select the correct muriatic acid item (%). Hope that helps.
