PH / Alkalinity creeping up - SWG pool

Hi everyone,

I put in a SWG about 3 weeks ago. My TA at the time was around 120-130 and PH was 7.4. Since then it has risen to TA 140 and PH 8.0. I have read with SWG I need to bring the PH down every so often and it looks like my time is now. Is it best to add Muriatic Acid vs Ph decreaser powder? I'm a bit nervous when reading about the fumes and questions on how and where to store it. Any recommendations?

Also, I have the PoolMath app and with my numbers from yesterday, my CSI was 0.27. I think that is still in the range of acceptable, so should I do anything or not?

Here are my numbers from yesterday:
FC 6.5
CC 0
TA 140
PH 8.0
CYA 80

You're still good for another day or two. If you want to lower pH now, do so. It won't hurt anything. As an aside, your CSI can be as low as you want with a vinyl pool. But I don't see how you calculated it without the CH reading.

Don't use dry acid. Sulfites can build up and damage the SWG. Muriatic Acid is not that big a deal. Just wear clothes you don't value, same as with bleach, when you're handling it. And pour downwind so you don't breath the fumes.

Thanks @Richard320 - that makes me feel better. I've done bleach many times and have been careful with it, in clothes I don't care about. So will do the same with Muriatic acid and hold my breath. Any tips on where and how to store it?

I think I misunderstand CSI, so next time I'll run the CH test as well.
I get mine in refillable jugs in a plastic crate, which I just set in my shed.

Use the search box for acid storage and you'll see everything from my complacency to treating it like sweating dynamite.
