Our dog fell into our inground pool and sadly ripped a hole in the corner about 2 feet wide and 18 inches deep. part of it is underwater while part is above the water line. How should we patch this? we went to watsons and bought a repair kit, but then we had to glue several pieces together and it isn't working well to patch it under the water very well. any advice on what to use, and meanwhile what should we do? let it drain on it's own, should we drain the water ourselves?

I would try to get a large piece of vinyl you can use to patch the pool. You may be able to find a local pool repair company that has large patches and buy one from them. Normally you want the patch to be a few inches larger than the hole, and you would put a larger patch on top of the first one. How old is your liner? Older liners are harder to patch successfully.

It's an old liner. We just bought the house last year. We planned on replacing it next year. So if we can get it to just hold over the summer that would be great.

I would get some large patches. You can order them off of Amazon if you can't find anything local. If an edge comes loose just carefully trim the loose pieces and patch over it again. Never try to pull off a patch once it is set. You can probably nurse it along for the summer.
