Roots growing through vinyl liner (Above/below ground pool)

Live in the Bay area water is too cold to get in right now. Last year we replace my old pool liner. It is an above/below ground doughboy. When we replace the old we didn't removed "all" the roots that were under liner. I believe what happened is cracked walnuts from the squirrels feel in the pool and the creepy crawly cause small cuts and the tree roots found the holes and grew through them.

There are three different spots where roots grew through vinyl pool liner. I am thinking I can just get in there and cut the roots and patch the hole? Has anyone had to deal with this before?

I would rather not have to replace the liner.

Thanks,

Greg

You could move the liner, cut out the roots, refill the holes with a lot of sand. Make sure you put down the foam pad or gorilla pad on the bottom, patch the liner and reinstall it.
The problem I see is putting the same liner back in. Doughboy installation requires you to stretch the liner as it is being filled up. You might have a difficult time getting the liner to set itself where it was before you drained and moved it.
Does that make sense?

Thank you and Yes, that makes sense. At that point I'd have to buy a new one and redo everything. I guess I have time. lol

post a picture! seems like if the liner was penetrated it would rip. are you sure it isn't some kind of sprouted seed? is the pool losing significant water?
Sorry, but picture doesn't turn out good. The roots are white and blend in. The roots from the king palm tree. No, there isn't a significant amount of water loss.

@gmyster Is the pool loosing water? How far deep do you think the roots go? You might be able to patch. It's if you want to do the other stuff I replied that would probably require a new liner? Have you emptied the water yet? Can you cut just the roots off where they push through the liner. If you try patching it, use 2 layers of patch, 2nd patch larger than the first one.

sorry, posted this while you were answering the other post.
