EDITED I did this pool math all wrong I put current in target eek

FC = 1, Target 3 says 22 ounces bleach chlorine
PH = 8.2 used 7.4 target don't know what to do/use
TA = 400, target 60 says reduce PH to 7.2???
CYA = 0, target 40 says 72 oz liquid stabilizer

The little blue box chlorine and ph test showing yellow barely 1 and red at least 8.2

TA of 400 fails reasonability test. Check your testing method. Read the Notes in link below.

How many gallons in your pool?

Have you ever added stabilizer (CYA) to the water?

1st add some more bleach, probably 2 or 3 ppm, if you have to run to Walmart for stabilizer.
2nd you should add stabilizer. Yes, I would shoot for 40. For me dry is easier, you can get it at Walmart. I think it comes in 4lb container. Yes, raise to 40.
Add about 1/2 or 2/3 of what pool math says, wait 24 hours, test and then add what you need. This keeps you from overshooting which would require exchanging water. Find an old sock to put the stabilizer in, hang in front of skimmer or return. Helps to squeeze it occasionally.

Lower PH to 7.2 or 7.4 range with muriatic acid. You should be able to find this at Lowes or somewhere similar. They use it to etch concrete also. 31.45% 20degree baum, but any will work, just use pool math to calculate.

Don't worry about the TA or CH at the moment. TA will be lowered some as you lower the PH. See effects of adding. PH will climb slowly, add more and TA will reduce.

24 hours after the 1st stabilizer, you should be at 20 or 30 cya. Add the remainder of cya and raise FC to 5 to 7. Minimum is 3FC for 40cya. Do not go below that at any time if possible. Open to algae.

Check out Pool School and ABC's of water chemistry.

Good luck!

What is “dry chlorine stabilizer”?

What % is your chlorinating liquid?

Walmart stocks it in the pool section. It is granular. Forget exact name but all stabilizer is cya. Liquid is fine too if it is available. I just haven't seen any around here or used it.

That is just 100% CYA. Add 20 oz of it to bring a 5000 gallon pool to 30 ppm.

Use the sock method. Do not add it directly into the skimmer. See section on CYA in

Walmart is all we have, my wife is there now. If you don't mind, what should she get?

All you need is liquid chlorine, preferably 10%, and muriatic acid, preferable 31%. Or if MA is not available some form of dry acid, PH Down.
