Hello guys, first of all, sorry for the long post. Recently bought a house that came with a pool which seems to have been built during the same time the house was...99’.
Having owned a pool on my previous hose which I built and the pool builder maintained I had zero issues. Moving to a new city and to an already built ‘older’ pool I am having some issues that I hope I can get some assistance with. I did keep the pool company the prior owner had to maintain the pool...the issue is that we noticed two of the returns one on the pool and one on the spa (on the side closest to the mechanicals)do not work another is that there is about an inch of 3/4” pvc that sticks out about 3” from the top edge of the pool that water flows when I open the only 3/4 inch pvc coming off the ground with a ball valve. I tried a few methods mentioned Hera and around the web...inserted a cobra bladder on the non working pool return with the pump off and pump basket out to see if anything would come out... all I got was very little water coming out. Reverse the process and could not feel water out of the return. Kinda concerned there is a leak in the ground somewhere but it’s all dry between the pool and mechanicals (about 50’ distance) I am hoping it’s something simpler like a jandy valve that needs to be adjusted so I have attached a pic for reference.
The GREEN circle is where I can only assume tablets go, it’s dirty and grimy inside and pool guy places tablets on skimmer:rolleyes:
The YELLOW circle is the 3/4 sticking out of the pool. Pool guy said it’s auto fill but it only works with the pump on and there is no float valve so I don’t think it is, thought maybe for a water feature? Maybe those pvc fountains that some older pools used to have...
The BLUE circle is for a filter that is not in used but shouldn’t it be? The canister is extremely dirty and I have no idea what is for
RED circle show the jandy valve with closed to that pipe.
The other non circled jandy valves are the ones that I can only assume can be adjusted to see if the returns work?

Sorry forgot another thing lol..... so the pool pump is a Century two stage 2/.25 HP pump, on low setting, the psi on the filter barely rises shy of the 5 psi mark, at high is at about 12-13psi. On the low setting the pump has a continuous big bubble showing as opposed to no bubbles (as it should) at full speed, is this normal?

Another member from S.A. Hello and welcome to TFP! I'm struggling with viewing the image right now (my eyes), but I'll try to help get this discussion going. The green circle does seem to be for tabs. The yellow could be various things. Maybe a pressure cleaner, fountain, or just about anything. The red ball valve handle seems closed, so unless you turn it 90 degrees you won't see anything - IF it even goes to anything operable now. You'll have to watch and see.

I don't recall the blue circle item, maybe a filter for a cleaner or cleaning system? Someone else will chime in. The red circle Jandy valve operates that item, so it's probably closed unless you are actively using that item.

Your un-circled Jandy valve operates the amount of water flow back to the pool or spa. Right now it appears to be set at about 60% pool and 40% spa. Some might set it more to the pool (i.e. 80/20) until you are actually in the spa. Just enough to keep water moving through it is all. We generally don't advise using tabs for season-long chlorination due to increased CYA levels, but when you have to use them, place in that tab tower or simply buy a simple tab floater. You don't want tabs in the poolside skimmer.

Make sure to review our ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and let us know how else we can help you with your pool. Enjoy. :swim:

The blue is a filter for a pressure side cleaner like a Polaris. Also can work as a filter for water features that have a separate pump. It is referred to as an Energy Filter. I believe it's also made by Jandy.

Thanks for the replies and yes that 3/4 pvc with the red ball valve operates the 3/4 pvc sticking out the pool but because it only does it when the pool pump is on so I’m assuming it was a water feature at some point. Now for that blue filter that I circled blue, if it were to be a pressure side cleaner how would it work? Would it be possible that the return that I think is not working is actually to hook up for a pressure side cleaner? The return has an eyeball fitting so I thought it’s a return but mayb not. Can I just move the jandy valve circled red to open that filter and Check to see if that so thought return is the side cleaner? Kinda concern years of neglect turn it could introduce air into the system:oops:
