How do I know if I need to add salt

I have a Jandy TruClear SWG. I don’t see where there is an option to check that salt level is good. Do all SWGs have a way to check this or do I need a kits to test salinity of the water?
This is my first salt water pool

It is advisable to have an independent method of testing salinity. K-1766 Taylor Salt Test

The unit should have a readout on the control box for salinity. Or a light that shows low, good, high. Check your owners manual.

I suggest you read Pool School - ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and consider reviewing the entire Trouble Free Pool School book.

The Truclear doesn't measure salinity. It goes by amps. As long as it reaches a minimum amperage, it will work. If the amps drop below a minimum, it will give an error.

Get a K-1766 and maintain the salinity at the recommended level.

I just installed the Tru Clear and use the 1766 kit. It works great. Super easy to use. Although, there may be an argument between brick red and brown.
