I live here in Sunny San Antonio, TX and I am just curious about my water balance. Although we built the pool to be a saltwater pool, after seeing our friends pool stone virtually disintegrate we have held off on using the saltwater generater. My question is with manually chlorinating the pool, how often should I have to add chlorine. It seems that I have to add some every other day to keep the chlorine in the 2-3 ppm range.

Generally folks manually dosing with bleach/chlorine do so daily or every other day at the longest during warm weather. Chlorine is constantly being depleted and your evaluation is correct that it needs routine replenishment.

Just a note on the saltwater, our experience seeing thousands of pool using SWG's, is that some stone is just prone to disintegrating or flaking and there is little if any correlation to salt content. Most pools have salt content built up anyway from bleach (SODIUM hypochlorite).

No, I was just under the impression that is what the chlorine level should be. If I test my water and post the results here, would it be possible for you to help me figure out what is needed?
