How long does Free Chlorine last in your pool? (Daily Average)

In daily average, how much does your FC drops?

At summer time, my pool seems to consume about 1.0 FC (min) to 2.5 FC (max) DAILY.

Just curious if this is normal?
Does it matter whether I refilled my liquid chlorine 2-3 times a week versus daily?

Thanks in advance for everyone's feedbacks.

Pool Water test 8/13/2017
* FC = 9
* CC = 0
* PH = 7.8
* TA = 80
* CH = 320
* CYA = 60

Wow. Ok I guess my number is pretty normal and seems low compare to you guys.
I was using chlorine tablets for about good 2 years, very low maintenance, I didn't have to replace those tablets for a week or two. But then I ran to a problem with CYA shooting up the roof and started to build up algae.
So I just switched to liquid chlorine. Just such a hassle to refill liquid chlorine EVERY morning.
i know SWG is another option, but not in the budget right now.
My guess I just have to suck it up and refill chlorine EVERYDAY.

Two 30-day charts here. They are daily or pretty much daily. CYA 40. 26k gallons. Full sun in Texas. My FC goal is 7. One chart shows liquid chlorine bleach added by ounces volume of 8.25% bleach and the other shows FC including low and high suggested values. The reduction in the low and high suggested lines on the FC chart is a due to reduction in CYA (from CYA 50 to 40).The two charts are for the same time period.

I have been running my SWG at 20% for 4 hours with a .5 to 1 FC draw per day at CYA of 80 (much lower than expected, possibly cloudy rainy weather combined with screen help). Seems really low but that's all I've needed

Recent Florida rain seems to have diluted my pool dropping my CYA to around 60 and the FC draw doubled this month to 1.5 - 2.0 causing me to have to turn up the SWG to about 40% for 4 hours. Still really low with that CYA I'm puzzled, but can't complain...

That's a whole lot of bleach!
With full sun in California, I'm gonna be in the same boat as you.
how much chlorine bleach do u stock up?
What kind? And how much?

With a very light bather load and minimal debris in my water, with a cya of 50, I seem to be dropping 1-2ppm/day. I'm adding appx 64oz of 10% liq CL, every other day.
My pool is in direct SoCal sun from 7am-4pm.

I was buying the 2-packs from Wal-Mart earlier in the season, but they don't seem to be keeping much in-stock lately, so I've switched to the 2-packs from The Home Depot. If it's fresh and out of the direct sun in the garden section, it's not a bad deal and has been effective for me this year.

Sorry I forgot to mention strength in my previous response. Kinda makes a difference, eh. The best buy for me is the 8.25% generic at Walmart. Just under $3 per 121 oz jug. During peak summer I usually buy 12 jugs at a time. Obviously during cooler months I buy less.

I think you'll use markedly less for 18k gallons vs 26k.

How far are you on researching these SWG and dual stage?

I also like to know how much it cost with installation, rough estimation.

Also using the 8.25% bleach from Walmart, Pretty much planning on just changing my motor to a dual stage and still looking a the SWG's lots to consider, waiting feedback on a post I have going in the SWG section, I'm either going SWG or Stenner and stay with liquid but I have to come up with a way to add when I'm not home, can't be married to the pool everyday!

I dose my pool each night around dusk. The chlorine has all night (9 hrs) to fight through any organics before the Sun had a chance to deplete the FC. In theory there should be zero loss overnight anyways so it's ready to start the day the same as I dosed it the night before.

I decided I didn't want you does every night so I did a DIY Stenner system. I love it. I went away for eight days and the Stenner did it's job keeping FC levels where it should be. I test about every 3rd day. I add bleach to the tank about every 2weeks, but could go to monthly if I filled the tank full. Works for me.
