SuperFlo VS and Easy Touch

All,

I didn't do enough research prior to purchasing my VS pump (it looks like I should have bought an ItelliFlo) and I purchased a SuperFlo VS to pair w/ my IntelliChlor 40 and EasyTouch. What is the recommended set up for a SuperFlo and EasyTouch? Should I just program the EasyTouch to keep the circuit for the pump on and run the program off the pump? Any help would be appreciated.

The super flow should be wired directly to a breaker and not thru any relays. You can use relays as an external control of pump speeds but it's a little clunky. You will also need a special communication cable for the pump to use external control.

First... Shame on Pentair for even making a pump that is not compatible with the EasyTouch!!!!

Your cheapest way to go is use the programming ability of the EasyTouch to control the on/off status of your IC40. Wire your cell's power supply transformer so that it only gets power when the pump filter relay is energized. This is the normal way to wire the IC40. Then run constant AC power to your pump and then use the pump's control panel to program the pump to run outside the time for the ET's program..

As an example.. have the pump come on at 0700 and off at 1900.. then program the ET to run the cell from 0800 to 1800. This allows you a little slop in keeping your two systems in synch.

If you want to spend a little more, and you have extra relays in your EasyTouch, you can buy a control cable that will allow you to have control over one speed for each empty relay you have, up to 4 speeds...

The cable is... Pentair Dig Input Kit 353129Z

Basically the pump outputs five volts DC, that gets fed to one side of the relays... When a relay closes it applies the five volts to one of four inputs to the pump... The inputs are tied to a specific speed that you program the pump to run. This will allow you to turn your VS pump into a 4-speed pump...

You obviously would use your ET to schedule or turn on/off the individual relays to control the pumps speed.
