my pump and saltwater generator should be here saturday. I purchased the 14 inch sand filter pump and the separate saltwater generator instead of the all in one unit just in case the generator was to go bad or whatever i could replace it is my theory anyway lol. I see the both the pump and the generator have their own separate timers so my question is will the time set on the generator only begin producing chorine when the pump kicks on and pushes water through the generator? Im confused on this. Dont see how you could time them both together and the chorinator only works when the pump is on correct? So is my theory right? the chlorinator timer begins when the pump kicks on? Thanks in advance

Your pump should always be running when the SWG is on.
I have my pump come on about 15 min before my SWG, and the pump runs for 30 min after the SWG shuts off (using a stand alone digital timer).
If you are using the built in timer in your sandfilter/pump, you will need to start the filter, wait about 15-30 min then start the SWG, making sure that you set the pump timer an hour longer than the SWG's timer.
The reason for this is because if the SWG flow switch should fail and the unit runs without water flow, the SWG cell will build up chlorine gas inside the cell, essentially becoming a small bomb.
You can plug them both into an external timer like the ones used to control Christmas lights, and they'll both come on at the same time. The pump has a switch position to bypass its internal timer, and the SWG will run for however many hours you have it set for each timer the external timer powers it on.
The only catch is that you may have to remove the GFCI protector from the end of the cord to the pump and replace it with a regular plug. Mine tripped every time the timer turned it on. Then be sure to plug into an outlet that is GFCI protected. Most outdoor ones should be.
You can get very creative with this setup, running your pump and SWG at various times throughout the day.
