Is Walmart Pool Essentials Chorinating Liquid the right one to buy

That's 10% Hypo so it's a good choice. Our local store has it in 2 gallon boxes for slightly less per jug than the single jugs, so that's what I'm using.
We have enough turnover that the date is always fresh.

I went to Walmart and saw this Pool essential Chlorinating liquid. I have read so much online and am confused. If this a good product to buy or should I be buying just plain and simple chlorox bleach or something else?

Started using this exact product last week. As Bama Rambler noted, it's 10% strength vs. regular old bleach at 6% or less, and concentrated bleach at 8.25%. Those percentage just mean you can use less of it per dose, though, and that a jug will last longer. All are A-OK for sanitizing your pool water.

12.5% chlorinating liquid is out there in the wild, too. Still looking for it around here. But for now, the Pool Essentials jugs from WalMart are just fine.

Check the date code and price compared to the great value bleach.

Question: how old does bleach have to be to give you pause?

The 10% liquid I bought on Friday June 9th was dated "17 121", which is May 1st, 2017. After some reading around here, I see that some people like to get their bleach at just two or three weeks old if they can find it. I figured 6 weeks old was better than 6 months old.

I'm still using poll essentials with date code from January. Still working as expected per pool math.
