Tile residue

Hi Folks - pools details in my sig. Pool is less than a year old and seeing this residue on my tile. Tried a pumice stone and some diluted muriatic acid and seem to get it off. Anything else I should be using. Can I call a local pool pro and they can remove it with tools I don't have quickly?

Hard to tell for sure from the pic but it is probably calcium scale. Our water has a high tendency to scale. Mine had some build up early on. But, keeping the CSI between -0.3 and 0 will make it go away on its own. And it will stay gone forever. Also, you're swg won't scale up either. Mine has never needed to be cleaned in 5 years.

Enter all your test results into PoolMath and it will calculate CSI for you. Tweak PH, TA and maybe CH to move the number.

Yep, chemistry all out of whack. PH and TA were 8.2 and 120. CH was low at 280ppm. CSI calculated at .5. Immediately added acid to get PH and and TA down. Will then reread and adjust CH.

Pic is barely adequate but I think you are talking about the with residue accumulating above the waterline.......that a condition called efflorescence. Water is weeping through the stone wall and then evaporating on the surface of the wall. You cannot stop it unless you stop the source......the water migrating through the wall.

Often, it will stop on it's own. Meanwhile muriatic is the solution.

Your water chemistry needed to be fixed but it was not the cause of this condition.

Thanks. Sorry for the crappy picture. Will get with my pool builder and try to figure out how water is getting through the cinder block and stone fascia.

Noticing white residue even on the front of the leuders coping.

Appreciate the feedback.
