Hi everyone, I'm new here and very new to pool automation. I'm installing a new Pentair Intellicenter. As you will tell with my questions, I have little to no experience with control panels and automation.
1. How to power the Purex Minimax 400 heater? Do I wire it to one of the relays or is direct power to the 20 amp 220V breaker?
2. Spoke with the Pentair, they suggested I splice one of the wires from the Minimax pressure switch and wire that to the 24 VAC on intellicenter. Is this the best way since there is not fireman switch on this unit?
3. Any advice with the installation of any other equipment and setup that I should be aware? I have a whisperflo pump circulating both the pool and the spa. Both are seperate bodies of water and need to be circulated seperately.

Thanks in advance!!!

Connect the heater power through the LOAD side of the filter pump relay or direct power.

Connect the pressure switch wiring through the IntelliCenter gas heater relay J2.

Do NOT connect the heater to 24V from the IntelliCenter.

Whisperflo SS pump, VS pump, or VST pump?

Separate bodies of water and one pump do not make sense.

Post pictures of the equipment pad and ask specific questions about planned wiring.

Thanks for the information.
It's a single speed whisperflo pump. Actuators will need to be programed depending on pool or spa circuit to rotate to circulate the different body of water.

Setup the SPILLOVER circuit to show and schedule SPILLOVER to run twice a day in the morning and afternoon for 15-20 minutes.

Connect the Whisperflo pump power through the filter pump relay.

Another question, the HPW outdoor transceiver requires the 4 conductor comm. wire to be wired to J7/J8 com port which is different then the install instructions. Please see the pictures to see that J8 is 6 pin com port and the color code is different then indicated on the instructions. 20240218_123611.jpg20240218_123701.jpg20240218_123706.jpg20240218_123720.jpg

Those instructions are for EasyTouch/Intellitouch. You do not do 4 wire connection to IntelliCenter.

Connect the provided Ethernet cable directly from the jack on the antenna board through the POE dongle to the jack in the middle of the IntelliCenter PCB.

And you need to connect the antenna power through the POE dongle connected to the PCB.

Thank you ajv22! Now, I also see that in the installation manual. That was a bit confusing to me.

The way I set up this is system, since it's two bodies of water. I made two schedules. Pool runs first, then about 15 mins later the spa runs. Since they are using the same pump/filter, but they are two different areas and not connected to spill over from spa to pool. This seems to work since the I take and return valve switch over when schedule calls for spa. Pump won't turn on until valve actuators reach about 2 LEDs close to fully open for spa function.
