You also may want to look at installlng a heater bypass. This allows you to run minimal water through the heater to keep it chlorinated and minimize back pressure caused by the heater internals.

Wanted to report back as I was finally able to reroute the plumbing and have IC40 horizontal now. Went from having to run at 2500 rpm for flow switch on IC40 all the way down to 1100. A big part of the problem was the pool guy had too small of return holes on the pool which was really increasing psi and slowing flow. He did this because he was trying to force more water to the waterfall since it is not on its own booster pump. I inherited this pool and boy has it been fun learning and fixing these errors by someone who should know better.
