This is requested in the piping instructions.
I'm using 2" pipe so its asking for 10 up front on the suction side.
How important is this?

Quote from the manual

It is recommended that a valve, elbow or tee installed
in the suction line should be no closer to the front
of the pump than fve (5) times the suction line pipe
diameter

Thanks in advance

Ken

Not very important. There are many pools that violate this recommendation without any down side. I believe it to be a hold over from where pumps were directly fed into the impeller inlet. However, pool pumps have a pump basket which negates any benefit from that recommendation.

Thanks That makes me happy.
I need that space for two new Jandy valves not orderd yet...,
I just got Pentair 188592 Quad D.E. Cartridge Style D.E. Pool Filter, 60 Square Foot, 120 GPM deliverd today .
New Pentair 261050 2-Inch HiFlow Valve comes tomorrow.
The 2 hp whisperflo arrives Friday.

More questions to come.

Thanks again

I believe it is the pump port:

BTW, I just noticed you are getting a 2 HP pump. Is there a specific feature (spa, waterfall, etc) that you need such a large pump? Hopefully, you are getting a two speed?
