My intex filter pump was off all winter, now when turn it on it makes a buzzing noise and wont circulate water . If anyone knows how to unstick it let me know, but also if i just end up fulfilling my dream, and buy a sand filter pump, which brand? Amazon has many brands, Intex, Hayward, Game etc. Ideally it would be one that would be easy to find parts for if it breaks down, either on Amazon or other online retailers, or at local pool supply stores, although i assume parts at Leslie's, based on their chemical prices, are much more expensive..... Among the sub $200 sand pump combos on Amazon,a Game one I saw is .5 HP, moves 40gpm, the Hayward, while i know it's probably the most popular brand?, has no horsepower rating but only moves 30gpm. I dont know about the other brands for reliability or parts availability. I'm a little leery of buying Intex brand because of all their proprietary fittings, and bitter about their parts obsolescence trends and high shipping when buying parts online, besides finding parts locally highly unlikely...
