I want to replace the sand in my sand filter, however, the multiport valve is hard plumbed without the use of unions. Should I cut the PVC a few inches out and away from the multiport valve? Or am I overthinking this? Seems like that would be the most logical thing to do. Also, can I just buy the unions from Home Depot or do they have to be purchased from Hayward (which I've been told was the way to go, but seems like it's the same thing I can get at Home Depot for about 1/3 of the cost)? Any and all suggestions appreciated!
