Pump recommendations, please!

Hi all,

So I noticed a leak under my pump today. after quick research here I inspected the shaft seal. It was damaged/worn out.

Went to pool store for a replacement. Installed that. Let the pump run. It still leaked. Re-inspected the pump. The newly installed shaft seal broke! ?

Perhaps I got the wrong version but figured it's a good time to price put a replacement pump if in fact the one I have crapped out.

Which ones do you recommend?

My pool is a kidney bean, approx 17x30. Doesn't get deeper than 5.5 feet. And shallow end is about 3 feet. I think it's close to 18,000 gallons.

I have a sand filter Hayward s244t. Holds 300 pounds of sand.

Is there anything else I'm missing that would be helpful to provide a recommendation?

Sounds like you just need a small 1HP pump. Would recommend getting at least a 2-speed version (Superflo, or Super Pump), and perhaps a VS.

Any water features, spa, solar system, heater, cleaner or cleaning system?

No features. I do want to add that I only have two returns and one skimmer. The furthest end of the pool doesn't get the greatest circulation.

I don't know if the strength of the pump had an impact on that?

Stick with major brand and they are comparable.
