Lately my pump has been not starting. It's on a timer to come on 2X a day, for a few hours while on. Sometimes I find it not on and to get it going I either cycle through the on/off switch located on the pump, or I whack it with a screwdriver and it starts up. Is there some maintenance I can do to resolve this issue?

Could be a loose wire in the motor wiring compartment. More likely you need a new motor.
